What does "W" mean in the computer?

W has multiple meanings in the computer.

  1. It's an abbreviation for Watt, the unit of measurement of energy. See [How kWh, kW, and W (Kilowatt-Hours, Kilowatt, and Watts) Work] for details.
  2. On the Internet, it's a slang meaning "win." Take the W means "take the win." Conversely, "L" means "loss."
  3. In many games, movement of a character is performed using the W, A, S, and D letter keys, in which case "W" is the key for moving forward in first-person view games, and for jumping in many side-view platforming games.
  4. W may also refer to Windows, the operating system, in abbreviated form. In such case, Windows 11, Win 11, or W11 all mean the same thing.
