What are the "WASD" Keys in Computer?
WASD refers to the W, A, S, and D letter keys of the keyboard. In many games, instead of using the arrow keys for bidimensional movement of the player character, the WASD keys are used instead: W is up, A is left, S is down, and D is right.
This is necessary in games that require the player to use both the keyboard and the mouse to control the player character, with the mouse mainly controlling toward which direction the player is facing in first-person games, or controlling the aim of a weapon in side view games. As most people are right-handed, the mouse will be occupying the right hand, so the left hand must control the movement of the character.
Games that don't require aiming with the mouse may use the arrow keys for movement instead, although using WASD is also a possibility. Other possibilities are SZXC and IJKL.
Observation: WASD is only WASD in a QWERTY keyboard layout. In AZERTY, this would be ZQSD, and <OAE in Dvorak.
