How to Use Clipping Masks in Krita

Krita: Inherit Alpha, Clipping Mask Cheat Sheet (2025)

Share
Four examples of how layers and Inherit Alpha works in Krita. In the first, "default," a Blue Circle, Yellow Diamond, and Green Rectangle appear one one top of the other in front of a transparent checkerboard background. In the second, the blue circle has "Inherit Alpha" enabled, so it's only rendered on non-transparent pixels. In the third, Blue Circle and Yellow Diamond are grouped in a "Group 1" layer group, and Blue Circle is clipped to the Yellow Diamond because it has Inherit Alpha enabled. In the last example, the group has Inherit Alpha enabled instead, so both the Blue Circle and the Yellow DIamond inside the group are clipped to the Green Rectangle.

Description
