What is VLC?

VLC [videolan.org] is a free and open source video player for Windows, macOS Linux, Android, and iOS. It supports opening files in various audio and video formats, including AVI, MP4, WebM, MKV, WMV, MOV, FLV, WAV, MP3, FLAC, OGG, WMA, and AIFF; casting to smart TV's using Chromecast; and saving the current video frame as an image.
