When this year started, I wanted to start writing tutorials about basic image editing concepts, and I had a choice: GIMP or Krita, two free and open source software anyone can use and install on their PCs to start editing images. I thought I wouldn't want to tell people to use GIMP, so I started making tutorials in Krita instead, despite the fact almost nobody uses Krita compared to GIMP. I do use GIMP for some things that have nothing to do with Krita, so I thought about at least writing some tutorials for it. But GIMP 3.0 was about to be released, so I thought I'd just wait for GIMP 3.0 so I could say "tutorial for GIMP 3.0," which sounds fresher instead of saying "tutorial for GIMP 2.10.38."
I heard GIMP 3.0 was going to be released in March, May, July, October, I don't know, it's coming out when it comes out, okay? There's a release candidate for the 3.0 version out, but a release candidate isn't a release, it's a candidate of a release. The homepage of GIMP's website still doesn't show you a button to download GIMP 3.0, so, as far as I'm concerned, there is no GIMP 3.0.
I hope one day it gets release so I can write a tutorial for it. Until then, my hands are tied.
