What is a Tab in a Computer?
The term "tab" has multiple meanings in a computer.
- Tab can refer to the Tab key on the keyboard, which is above the Caps Lock key.
- Tab can refer to a tab character, which is inserted by the Tab key in some text editors and can be used for indentation creating tables (tabulation).
- Tab can refer to a type of button found at the top part of a window that switches from one document to another, specially web browsers. Similarly, to a type of button found above certain user interface elements that switch the contents of the section below. These are based on the concepts of "tabs" in a real life folder or notebook.
