News: LibreOffice Calc 24.2 Adds Column/Row Highlighting for Active Cell

A new version of LibreOffice Calc from two months ago1 brings with it a much awaited featured for me: the ability to highlight the row and column of the currently selected cell in the spreadsheet.

Calc was already able to highlight the row and column headers of the active cell at the edges of the spreadsheet, but personally I didn't find that a very useful indicator even in spreadsheets with just a few columns, and I wished it could just indicate to me what other cells were aligned to the cell I clicked on. This new feature lets you configure Calc to highlight the entire row and column, which is exactly what I wanted.

See [How to Highlight the Row and Column of the Current Cell in LibreOffice Calc] for how to configure this setting.

A special thanks to Sahil Gautam for implementing the feature, closing a Calc issue that had been open since 20112.
