Thanks a lot for this information. I also agree that not having templates preinstalled on Linux Mint makes for a worse user experience than on Windows for no valid reason at all, it should at least include templates for the basic software already installed on Linux mint like LibreOffice documents. Anyway, it turns out it's really easy to setup templates and i like how it's done, but they should really add some basic templates by default.

One of the things I've appreciated most since switching to linux a few weeks ago (other than my computer not hanging every fourth time it tried to go to sleep or wake up) is the user community, and your website is a fabulous example of this. Thank you for making such clear and informative articles

my jaw literally dropped when i found this, im so used to randomly losing file types in the windows menu. never again. i shouldve switched sooner

Is there any bulk solution? I ported my documents over, after setting up Mint. And now have to do this for each one individually?

I'm afraid not. The only possible "bulk" solution would be to find someone with the templates already created for you. Fortunately you only have to do this once.
