What is Xfce?

Xfce is a desktop environment for Linux, like Gnome and Plasma. It's lightweight and customizable through extensions, although not as lightweight as Lxqt.

File manager: Thunar.
Wayland: not yet (2024-03-01).

What does Xfce stand for?

Xfce stands for XForms Common Environment, at least originally, as it's not based on XForms anymore1. If you're having trouble remembering whether it's Xfce or Xcfe, just remember it was XForms.
