What does it mean "To Download" from the Internet?

To download something from the Internet has multiple meanings, some more technical than others. Technically, any time data is being transferred from a computer somewhere on the planet to your computer through the Internet, we say that your computer is downloading data from the Internet. This data isn't necessarily a file. For example, if you're playing an online game, your computer needs to download data to know where to display the other players on your screen, and such data wouldn't be a file. However, in most cases we talk about downloads, we're talking about downloading files. Typically, we're talking about using a web browser to download a file from a website. Files downloaded in this manner go to your "Downloads Folder."
